The name perculcha is from the first 3 letters of the words performance, culture and change; three areas of focus in which I have spent the majority of my career.
- Performance is all about getting the job done. For employees, that means being motivated to do the work. Employees are at their best when they feel valued, heard and respected. For employers, it means being able to depend on the people they hire to do the work swiftly and efficiently. But sometimes things get in the way. Interpersonal relationships, communication breakdown, unclear expectations, and unwanted behavior. There are all kinds of reasons these things surface, and that's where having perculcha as your People Partner can help.
- Culture represents patterns around behavior and the way things are done. This is where the company's norms and values can be found, whether they're clearly stated or not. Sometimes what is written on paper or posted in the lobby is anything but how the culture really is. And sometimes employees feel like they've been deceived during the hiring process because they were led to believe the culture was one way when, in reality, it is something very different. Culture and brand go hand in hand. The way people behave directly reflects the perception one has of the company - even if it's only one bad apple with a sour attitude - a customer, vendor or prospective employee quickly expands their impression of the one to represent the entire orchard.
- Change represents the level of flexibility within a company. If your organization changes frequently and rapidly, that creates a very different kind of culture than one that regularly resists change. When it comes to the employee level, people adapt to change in different ways and at different speeds. That's why it is imperative to create adaptive change strategies that are intentional instead of reactive, to allow for the smoothest transitions. Equipped with a thorough understanding of the effects of change on employee performance and the ability to adapt, perculcha is well situated to guide you through the complexities prevalent when change comes about.
